The Day is Almost Here!!

Everything that I have done up until now from finding out if there were any special education
requirements to homeschool the boys. Or discovering the best way to teach the writing process, have not prepared me for our next adventure. Can you guess what it is?? If you have been reading my posts OR friends of mine on Facebook you probably already know, the pic above gives another good hint:) NO not a new girlfriend even though that's another adventure on the horizon I am sure!!

Tomorrow morning Alex and I are heading up to the DMV to get (hopefully) his learner's permit!! I am both nervous and very proud of him, he has been taking samples tests and been doing well on them. He has a lot more growing up to do and I am thinking that this just might help. No not a mom who can't wait for the stage in life for her boys, just wanting them to be happy in the now!! We have also talked a lot about what the future holds for him, trying to get him to help himself and me too, figure out what direction to take his high school years education. I think that it is one of the hardest things in life to figure "What makes me happy??" Every parent wants their kids to be happy but also to be able to make it on their own. We won't be around forever, and as much as I don't want to think about that day in the hopefully far away future, is as certain as the sun rising. I am just feeling very emotional today because after tomorrow the state of NC just might be handing my oldest a permit that gives him permission to drive! Crossing my fingers that all goes well and you know that I will be talking about the results VERY SOON:)

June 24th ALREADY??!!

Well when I told the boys that we were taking off for a couple of weeks I didn't think that the first two weeks would fly by!! As you can see we have been VERY busy over this past week, starting with Father's Day Weekend! We went on a special groupon fishing trip were we caught over 30+ fish!! Anthony catching the most and the largest by far, totally funny he would put the little minnow on the hook drop it in and get a hit almost immediately! All and all a get day to relax and go fishing. Then the boys presented hubby with their yearly Father's Day t-shirt with a drawing put on it thru my new favorite t-shirt making place Zazzle!

Then the dreaded of all things to happen in summer?? A cold from hell, both Anthony and I are just now getting over it. I hate being sick and having a sicky boy as well. But I am thinking that we both are going to be feeling better HOPEFULLY this weekend and the other two are hoping not to catch it. Thank goodness Alex didn't catch it, because he started ((GULP)) DRIVER'S ED this past week at a school in Raleigh. A week of getting up ant 6:30AM and taking tests all day (well until 2:30pm) has him wishing for the weekend;) TGIF, right?? I am tired too I tell you what driving back and forth to take and pick up up and going thru a tank of gas in a couple of days. We also had a swim meet this past Tuesday. Yes I went because I had to volunteer but hopefully didn't give away my" present" cold to anyone. Anthony stayed home, of course, because can you say YUCK swimming with a head cold. BUT Alex's 13-14 boys team won TWO first place ribbons for the medley and freestyle races and he took home a second place ribbon for his heat in the breaststroke race. GO WAHOOS!

So with all of that going on I have had well a block in the writing process both with my blog and my Homeschool Literature site. Also with finalizing the last of our curriculum for next year, my last area of research was spelling. SO excited, my favorite site Spelling City has several new spelling curricula for us to use this year. It is actually from a couple of other programs that we tried last year that were working but it was hard for me because Anthony was doing better with the phonics and sight word curriculum and Alex was better at the more individualized spelling program. So going from one to the other was hard for me BUT since they already have the list up there, yeah yeah yeah just link to them on their google lesson plan doc and away we go!!

Just another relaxing week here....LOL
